Wondering what to do for Symptoms of Lyme Disease?
Here in New England, depending on your level of outdoor activity, tick bite prevention and treatment of tick-borne illnesses can be a common source of questions.
Thankfully, our clinic partners with a local producer of organic herbal extracts. In collaboration with Dr. Alexis Chesney, one of the nation’s experts in tick-borne illnesses, we crafted a proprietary blend called L-Plus that supports the immune and neurological systems in the face of Lyme disease.
Ingredients include: Japanese Knotweed, Cats Claw, Cryptolepis, Black Walnut, Cistus and Baical Skullcap, all of which were studied in the lab at Johns Hopkins and shown to outperform antibiotics at killing Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria associated with tick-borne Lyme disease.
There is encouraging pre-clinical research from Johns Hopkins regarding the use of these herbs in Lyme disease.
In addition, the following have antibacterial properties and can be used to support a healthy immune response to the symptoms of Lyme disease.
Multiphase Detox or Adrenotone combined with probiotics is another great strategy for those who are taking antibiotics for Lyme disease, to restore healthy gut bacteria.
When undergoing treatment for Lyme disease using pharmaceutical antibiotics, it is recommended to restore the beneficial gut bacteria. OrthoBiotic and Theralac are two products that can be taken two hours away from antibiotics to restore healthy gut bacteria and combat gut side effects during a course of antibiotics.
Multiphase Detox is an excellent support for the liver, kidneys and gut. During treatment for Lyme disease, people may feel a worsening of symptoms as a result of what is called a Herxheimer reaction. Using detoxification support like Multiphase Detox can help clear out the toxins and decrease inflammation.
Adrenotone supports healthy adrenal function. During physical or mental stress, our adrenal glands might not be optimally regulated and we may feel fatigue and brain fog as a result. Using Adrenotone can support adrenal health and ease symptoms of fatigue a brain fog.
